The Year 9 program covers Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry, Statistics and Probability, and introduces the study of Trigonometry. Students use appropriate strategies to solve problems and link mathematical ideas and the relevant terminology and notations to explain their thinking processes. Our Year 9 program places a great deal of importance on consolidating prior mathematical knowledge and laying the strongest foundations for senior Mathematics at every level.
This program covers all the components of the national curriculum (and all relevant state variations). In Year 7, students start to explore the use of pronumerals and the language of algebra. Students develop a range of mental and technological strategies to enhance their computational skills. They learn about Pythagoras' theorem and acquire a variety of ways to demonstrate and communicate their mathematical understanding.
Our Year 10 Mathematics Advanced program provides each student with an opportunity to review and build on mathematical areas of study introduced in our Year 9 Mathematics program. Students extend their algebraic techniques to help solve more complex equations and we introduce them to advanced topics including surds, logarithms, polynomials, circle geometry and functions. Each of these topics will be further developed in the advanced senior mathematics courses.
In Year 8, students consolidate their algebraic skills and develop more sophisticated ways to represent and communicate their mathematical understanding. They cover the key curriculum components of financial mathematics, ratios and rates, linear and non-linear relationships, data, circles and cylinders and properties of geometrical figures.
The numbers skills of students in Year 5 should allow them to apply place value in digits of any number and demonstrate a more sophisticated understanding of number patterns and fractions. They are dealing with more challenging multiplication problems, including using the formal algorithm, and calculating amounts of money using percentages. Their appreciation of space and time is becoming more subtle and abstract.

Here’s what parents and students around Australia are saying about Cluey Learning:
I clicked on a link for Cluey for my son on a whim during lockdown. I was called within an hour and my son was being tutored for year 3 maths the very next day. The tutor is patient, knowledgeable and has been great for my son's confidence. Very impressed and very surprised with such a great service.
Cluey has helped my daughter understand her maths and English better over time. She really loves her English tutor and enjoys these lessons. It has been a good investment. However, I think that it is important to get the right tutor for the child and ensure that they practice regularly.
My daughter had tutoring through a different organisation and the package was a little restricted. Rescheduling appointments was difficult. Cluey is flexible and the online tutoring system works well. We highly recommend Cluey Learning. Cluey Learning tailored the content to my daughters mathematics curriculum.
This was specific to the Maths Methods yr 11 maths program and we are very happy.
My 10 yo daughter really struggles with maths.
I had a private tutor for a while but it wasn't really helping
I was skeptical at first to try on line tutoring but thought I'd give it a try to save me traveling
We are four sessions in and my daughter really enjoys it and has already learned quite a bit.
I do highly recommend Cluey.
They are great and their staff is so caring and professional and I really look forward to what else my daughter will learn.
Big thumbs up
My 10yo daughter needed some help revisiting and really understanding some foundation concepts in Maths & English from year 4. I researched different tutoring options and trialled a couple. The one we stuck with was Cluey. My daughter likes both of her tutors and keenly sets up her working space prior to each session. She is finding it difficult but preserving with the tutore much more than she would when I've tried to help. The tutors are so patient and kind and encouraging.
I really like the online system for the sessions, but also the reports and homework in The Hib. Every interaction I've had on the phone with the Customer Experience team has been great.
I'd highly recommend Cluey, great investment in your child's education!
Cluey's (Maths) program is great!
Initially I was not sure how my daughter (year 4) will respond to Cluey but after the first session she was already excited for the next session. While the program is structured to quickly pace through key concepts, matching my child with an appropriate group (2-3 kids per group so far) was probably the most critical piece they achieved easily.
All sessions are recorded which makes returning to the concepts covered and issues that arose during the live session to be revised/reviewed more easily. Sometimes the online experience struggles when a kid has incorrectly placed mic/speaker but the online platform itself is very easy to understand - especially after my child had to spend the time schooling online from home during the pandemic!
I think it would be useful if they provide more homework (currently my daughter only had 6 follow-up questions to work through) but I can work out what concepts they are addressing so I can create similar questions for her too.
They have an excellent customer service team who action our requests and queries promptly and professionally.
