NSW Department of Education Small Group Tuition Program
What is the initiative?
The NSW government is committed to ensuring that every student's learning is on track following the COVID disruptions experienced in 2020. To support this commitment, more than 2,000 NSW Department of Education schools have received funding for small group tutoring in 2021. The schools are Primary (K-6), High (7-10/12) and Central Schools (K-10/12) plus Schools for Specific Purposes (K-12).
“This program is designed to have maximum impact on student outcomes, because small-group tuition rapidly accelerates student learning.”'
Sarah Mitchell
Minister for Education and Early Childhood Learning

How does Cluey help with this initiative?
Cluey has been approved by the NSW Department of Education to provide its tutoring and learning support services to schools who participate in the Small Group tuition program.
The Grattan Institute has conducted research into the impact of COVID on school-based learning and recommends small group tutoring as a key means of assisting students who have been educationally disadvantaged.
We provide schools with learning support resources that they require to assist their students alongside the traditional classroom setting. Our programs are structured to cover all the theory and examples needed to ensure learning outcomes can be achieved through an engaging and encouraging live online session with a tutor, supported by regular feedback and between-session practice.
Our tutors are trained to offer guidance through demonstration and worked examples and assign targeted questions to help students master the topics and concepts being covered. In each Group Learning session, our tutors spend time reviewing practice assigned after the previous session; reviewing the learning goal/s for the session with the group; working through exercises based on topics and concepts for each learning goal; engaging students in a learning reflection exercise after the session; and providing feedback to enable the student and parent/teacher to track progress.
