Year 8 English involves a range of texts - novels and newspapers, poems and plays, digital media and dreamtime stories. There will be new kinds of vocabulary and assessments, not to mention new perspectives from around the world.

Based on the Australian National Curriculum for Years 7-10, Cluey’s approach to secondary English focuses on developing students' literacy skills with in-depth studies of Shakespeare and essay structure in the early years, and deeper analysis of different texts and topics in Years 9 and 10. Our personalised approach gives you the opportunity to focus on areas you find challenging and maximise your understanding of each topic.

Brenton leads our Secondary English department developing and overseeing excellent secondary English programs of learning and tutoring. He has previously held roles as Head of English, Dean of English and Dean of Knowledge Systems at a number of high-performing schools in Sydney.
Our tutors are all qualified teachers, exceptional ATAR achievers or experts in their respective fields.
NSW University Student (Chemical Engineering)
Samaita graduated in 2018 with an ATAR of 90.6 and is currently studying a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering. Samaita has experience tutoring and is passionate about helping students develop their oral and written communication skills as they work towards achieving their educational goals. Samaita believes in fostering an encouraging and stimulating learning environment where students engage in collaborative discussions, and feels that with the right support, students can reach their potential.

Jay is currently studying a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) and Arts (Honours) at Monash University. He has experience in classroom tutoring, providing essential English and Maths lessons to school students. Each student’s individual learning journey is supported through a series of live face-to-face sessions with an expert tutor matched to the student's needs. We cover all the theory and examples needed to ensure comprehension, and our sessions are designed to be engaging and encouraging.
Our expert tutors offer guidance through demonstration and worked examples and assign targeted practice questions to help students master the topics and concepts covered.
After each session, personalised feedback is provided to help students and parents track their progress.
