In Year 7, students might be engaging with novels and newspapers, poems and plays, digital media and dreamtime stories. It’s important to the Cluey Education Team that every learner feels confident in their understanding and ready to tackle any assignment. We have an ever-expanding bank of resources as well as units ready to support creative and persuasive writing – plus grammar and spelling to give that final polish.

Meet Dr Selina Samuels
Dr Samuels and her Education team developed Cluey's unique CENTRE approach, and have created interactive learning programs that map to the curriculum and allow students to work at their own level and pace.
English Tutoring Program Based on the National Curriculum
Based on the Australian National Curriculum for Years 7-10, Cluey’s approach to secondary English focuses on developing students' literacy skills with in-depth studies of Shakespeare and essay structure in the early years, and deeper analysis of different texts and topics in Years 9 and 10. Our personalised approach gives you the opportunity to focus on areas you find challenging and maximise your understanding of each topic.

Michael is a qualified, registered Teacher, holding his Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education and also completed his IB Diploma Program English Category 1 Training. He has experience teaching years 11 and 12 English and also has experience in teaching Mathematics. Michael is a passionate and caring Tutor, continually striving for new methods and pedagogical practices aimed at empowering his students to become creative and critical thinkers.

Mark is a qualified, registered Teacher, having completed his Masters of Teaching (Secondary) in 2020. Mark is enthusiastic about student-centred learning and making sure content is tailored to each student's prior knowledge.
Rohan
English: Secondary & Senior
Rohan completed his Bachelor in Communication (Honours) at the University of Newcastle in 2008. He also completed a Diploma in Screenwriting at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School in Sydney in 2009 and a Certificate in Student Mentoring at NSW TAFE. Rohan started tutoring English 5 years ago. His teaching style is to meet the individual needs of each student, acknowledging that students are at different points in their learning and possess different learning needs.

Weekly learning through live tutoring sessions, feedback & practice
Each student’s individual learning journey is supported through a series of live face-to-face sessions with an expert tutor matched to the student's needs. We cover all the theory and examples needed to ensure comprehension, and our sessions are designed to be engaging and encouraging.
Our expert tutors offer guidance through demonstration and worked examples and assign targeted practice questions to help students master the topics and concepts covered.
After each session, personalised feedback is provided to help students and parents track their progress.

First 5 Minutes
Establishing the session theme, why are we here?
- Discuss student’s areas of focus (if first session)
- Review previous session's assigned practice (if subsequent session)
- Set session learning goals
45 Minutes
During the session
- Work through exercises based on the topics and concepts for each learning goal
