Year 9 English
In Year 9, students will be engaging in higher order reasoning and increasing abstraction. It’s a great chance for students to consider their own position in the world as a creator and responder. The Cluey Education Team is ready to support them at every stage, with units for essays, oral presentations, creative and persuasive writing, as well as spelling, syntax and grammar. Meet Dr Selina Samuels
Dr Samuels and her Education team developed Cluey's unique CENTRE approach, and have created interactive learning programs that map to the curriculum and allow students to work at their own level and pace.
English Tutoring Program Based on the National Curriculum
Based on the Australian National Curriculum for Years 7-10, Cluey’s approach to secondary English focuses on developing students' literacy skills with in-depth studies of Shakespeare and essay structure in the early years, and deeper analysis of different texts and topics in Years 9 and 10. Our personalised approach gives you the opportunity to focus on areas you find challenging and maximise your understanding of each topic.

English: Primary & Secondary
Amelia is a qualified Teacher, holding her Master of Teaching (Secondary). Prior to graduating, she had 2 years as a School Learning Support Officer, working in a Support Unit with students with a range of disabilities, in an English Intensive Centre with refugees, and in the mainstream setting. Since becoming a Teacher she has worked in an English Intensive Centre teaching English as an Additional Language students and as a mainstream Teacher, working with students with different abilities and disabilities. This has given her experience in differentiating lessons to suit the learning needs of each of her students. Amelia is a patient Tutor with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, helping her to quickly establish relationships with her students.

Alison is a qualified Teacher with several years of experience as a Drama and English Teacher in various schools in Newcastle and Maitland area. She completed her Bachelor of Teaching and Bachelor of Arts at the University of Newcastle in 2001. Alison believes in fostering a positive and encouraging learning environment and feels with the right support, students can reach their potential.

Hannah is currently studying a Bachelor of Education (Secondary), majoring in Physics and Psychology at La Trobe University. Hannah has experience in tutoring through her university studies and during High School she has tutored Year 7 students in Japanese and fellow Year 12 students in Mathematics and English. Hannah is passionate about helping students develop their key literacy and numeracy skills for life-long use, as they work towards acquiring educational independence. Hannah believes in fostering a positive and encouraging learning environment and feels with the right support, students can reach their potential.

Weekly learning through live tutoring sessions, feedback & practice
Each student’s individual learning journey is supported through a series of live face-to-face sessions with an expert tutor matched to the student's needs. We cover all the theory and examples needed to ensure comprehension, and our sessions are designed to be engaging and encouraging.
Our expert tutors offer guidance through demonstration and worked examples and assign targeted practice questions to help students master the topics and concepts covered.
After each session, personalised feedback is provided to help students and parents track their progress.

First 5 Minutes
Establishing the session theme, why are we here?

During the session
